The new Hixon plant became operational in October 1997 and is designed for the production of generating sets and control panels in the power range 500-5000kVA.
The site covers an area of over 3 acres and a production area of 30,000 sq feet with space for future expansion as required. In 2007 the production/internal storage area will be expanded by a further 6500 sq feet.
In building a new and purpose designed facility, Broadcrown has been able to specify the plant to meet its precise needs including:
- Fabrication facility capable of manufacturing baseframes, fuel/oil tanks and ancillaries
- Assembly shop with 20 Tonne overhead crane capacity
- Large capacity spray booth
Test facility including:
Internal test bays capable of handling 2000kVA per bay.
Low or high voltage connections internal and external.
Over 7800kVA of in-house load bank capacity.
Resistive and reactive load available.
Permanently installed synchronising HV breakers and transformers.
Permanently installed LV bus link allowing any test bay to be synchronised with another.
External test area dedicated to the testing of containerised units.
