Project Control Systems

In addition to the standard range of control panels, Broadcrown recognise that to meet the needs of consultants and end-users for special power engineering applications special attention is required for the control of generating sets, leading to custom design using PLC controls, HMI`s and SCADA.

The standard range of control panels (the X Range) covers the majority of requirements specified by our customer base. However, recognising the need for specific solutions, Broadcrown design, manufacture and test, at their Hixon HQ, comprehensive control systems to encompass all aspects of power generation.

These often complex control systems enable Broadcrown to meet the most stringent specifications including the use of Dual Redundant (Hot Standby) PLC systems to offer resilience to the client's LV (or HV) distribution system.

The control systems are designed and programmed in-house by a dedicated team of electrical design engineers, capable of developing PLC software and HMI/SCADA graphics in conjunction with the client's representatives.

The control systems, where PLC based, range from a stand-alone PLC control system through to a network incorporating Dual Redundant PLC`s connected via a network (fibre optic or similar) to Remote I/O controls for operation of a site-wide building load management system.

Broadcrown`s experience with PLC control systems enables it to offer PLC`s from all of the leading manufacturers including Allen Bradley, GE-Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and Siemens.

Broadcrown`s ability and flexibility to produce such complex control systems enables it to offer the following :

  • Multi-Set Low Voltage installations
  • Multi-Set High Voltage installations
  • Mains/Generator changeover control
  • Mains parallel operation including G59 protection
  • Peak lopping and power export
  • Site-wide load management control with priority load add/shed function
  • Dual Redundant PLC systems
  • HMI (Human Machine Interface) displays with generating set monitoring and power flow diagrams
  • SCADA interface
  • Fuel transfer system control
  • Neutral earth contactor control
